Discovering Hidden Gems with Our Taxi Service

Lewis Taxis • 2 May 2023

Coventry is a wonderful city located in the Midlands that is well-worth a visit at any time of the year. Boasting historical buildings, cultural monuments, breathtaking scenery and fun activities for all ages, there is something for everyone to enjoy - perfect for solo visits or trips away with the family!

Read on below as we tell you some of our favourite places to visit in Coventry and why our taxi service is one of the best ways you can travel to see them all.

Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve

If a refreshing walk in the fresh air surrounded by serene scenery sounds like something you’d enjoy, then we highly recommend Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve. Set in 220 acres, the reserve is home of the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and has lakes, reedbeds, grassland and woodland, with a variety of footpaths throughout and an abundance of wildlife to spot on your visit.

In addition to this, the reserve features a sensory garden and under-cover picnic area, along with The Badgers Kitchen that you’ll find at the end of your visit (supplying an array of hot and cold refreshments) and the Visitor Centre, which includes a well-stocked gift shop.

Coventry Transport Museum

Do you have a need for speed? If so, then the Coventry Transport Museum is the place for you. Housing many fantastic vehicles ranging from bicycles to fire trucks, two of the star attractions that you must see are the Thrust SSC and Thrust 2 - the world’s top-two record-breaking supersonic, jet-propelled cars for having the fastest speed.

Though retired now, the Thrust SSC was the first land vehicle to break the sound barrier! That certainly makes it worth the visit.

Caludon Castle Ruins

For any history lovers out there, the Caludon Castle Ruins are a must. Built on the land originally owned by the legendary Lady Godiva before the Norman invasion of 1066 (the famous noblewoman who rode through the streets of Coventry naked on her horse - there is a statue dedicated to her that is also worth a visit!) Caludon Castle went on to be owned by the powerful Berkely family of Gloucestershire in the late 1500s.

The opulent Berkely family were said to enjoy performances by famous musicians of the time as well as numerous productions of important plays. In fact, according to local speculation, the site is said to be the location of the first ever performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream!
